Description: This 970 silver bracelet, with safety chain, demonstrates the artistry of Antonio Pineda of Taxco, Mexico working with silver. This is a solid, substantial, gleaming piece that uses a curved, fluid design. The bracelet, with 17 links, looks modern, but has a rich, vintage look as well. This bracelet is circa 1960. The bracelet is 970 silver. 970 silver (97% silver) is considered better than sterling silver (sterling is 92.5% silver). The bracelet is marked with multiple marks: 970, TAXCO, Antonio, TAXCO VJ MEXICO, and has a logo.Bracelet size: interior circle is 6 1/2 inches by 3/4 inches wide. (Measure your wrist, please.) Bracelet weight: 4.02 ounces or 113.97 grams.Condition is really excellent and consistent with age and use. There are probably small scratches but none readily visible, no dents. UCLA's Fowler Museum hosted an exhibition of Pineda's work. You can read about him in "Silver Seduction: The Art of Mexican Modernist Antonio Pineda" by Gobi Stromberg. Pineda's work is timeless.
