Vintage Letter Beaumont Texas 1935 Guy Junker Business Man Real Estate Signed

Description: Biographical information about Guy W. Junker Guy W. Junker, prominent in the business circles of Beaumont as a real estate dealer, represents one of the earliest pioneer families of Jefferson county and of Southeastern Texas. Wilson A. Junker, his father, who was a native of Louisiana, came with his parents to Beaumont, Texas, in the early thirties [1830s]. Isaiah Junker, the grandfather, was a lawyer, and he served as judge of the district courts. Wilson A. Junker was by trade a blacksmith, but later in life followed boating on the Neches and Sabine rivers, and still later was a government contractor until the time of his death in 1887. Guy W. Junker, the only surviving member of that family, numbering three sons and two daughters, was born in Beaumont on the 4th of March, 1866, and he attended a private school in Galveston and a public school in Jamestown, New York. After leaving school he was engaged in contracting with his father for several years, and for four years, from 1892 to 1896, was the postmaster of Beaumont, during President Cleveland's administration. Since then he has been engaged in the real estate business, and since 1903 he has also death in insurance. He also served his city of Beaumont one term as a councilman. He is the senior member of the firm of Junker and Edwards, which firm owns and controls some of the most valuable property in Beaumont, Texas. in 1891 Mr. Junker was married to Lulu Langham, a daughter of Thomas H. Langham, a former mayor of Beaumont, and for thirty years the sheriff of Jefferson county. A daughter, Lyle, has been born to Mr. and Mrs. Junker. Mr. Junker has attained a high place in the ranks of the Masonic fraternity, and he affiliates with Beaumont Lodge, No. 286, A.F & A.M.; with Beaumont Chapter, No. 188, R.A.M.; with the Texas Consistory, No.1, of Galveston, Scottish Rite; with Beaumont Commandery, No. 38, K.T.; with El Mina Temple of the Mystic Shrine, and he as received his thirty-third degree. He is grand sword-bearer in the Grand Commandery of Texas for 1909 and 1910. He is also a member of the Beaumont Country Club.
