Description: Very rare all steel used conductor/engineer clearance warning sign . This sign came out of a integrated steel mill on the southern end of Lake Michigan . I do not know which mill . Could have been US Steel South Works , Republic , Inland , Youngstown . I got this from a guy who worked for a company( Brandenburg) that dismantled old obsolete steel mills and their shut down departments . He got this sign years ago . It will not get any cleaner , if you know the steel mill environment its a harsh , tough , brutal place that just eats up everything over time . I worked at Inland Steel for 35 years , its tough inside those mills . Nothing lasts . A lot of close quarters in many departments and this sign was a reminder to stay in the cab of the loco if you wanted to live . Sign measures 26" x 33 1/2" and weighs almost 16lbs. It is very solid , very solid but it is stained from the mill environment . I did try to lightly power wash the sign and it stayed the way you see it . What you see is what you get . This is a cool sign and I would say pretty rare .
