Stein says "ein glas beim freund ist gut gemeint" with "1919" above it under the handle. This stein possibly made between 1912 & 1921. (presently Höhr-Grenzhausen, Rhineland Palatinate). Not a great amount of detail about the company is known. Although we do know it was a sales or marketing consortium. It was managed by Paul Merkelbach, and was comprised of the three companies of Simon Peter Gerz I, Reinhold Hanke and Reinhold Merkelbach. Founded in 1912, it was probably viable as a co-operative only from 1912 – 1914. There was limited activity between 1914 – 1918. Reinhold Hanke was likely the only contributor after 1918, until in 1921 when they had a huge fire when all operations ceased.
