Description: Original Zarebski “Smiling Head” plaque featuring a relief in crushed malachite of a face from the Totonaca Culture. Smiling head has a headdress on with an animal in the front square above the forehead. Vintage, dating to mid 20th century. Has its original labels on the back, one with a description of what the image is based on. Overall excellent vintage condition with no breaks or cracks to the head. The wooden plaque has some wear - an indent on the upper left and a small chip off the lower left corner. Does not detract from the work’s appearance. Plaque is 7” x 7.25”. Smoke and pet free home. Please feel free to ask questions and thanks for looking!
