Description: The artist captured this cheerful fellow in full stride, with beak open, wings flapping, and tail flared as he runs over a broad leaf and a turquoise stone in pursuit of his prey. Inlays of turquoise, carnelian agate, black onyx, coral (or perhaps brecciated jasper?), and mother of pearl make him colorful; the sterling here and on the well-fashioned aiguillettes has a wonderful patina. I show him in one photo with a Kennedy half dollar, merely for scale. He measures approximately 2.34" wide and 1.34" high (0.14" thick). The dark brown cord still has a nice sheen, save minor abrasions along a section approximately 3" long, which can be easily positioned on the "backside" by the wearer (see the next-to-the-last photo.) Someone skilled in leather craft can probably make that even less noticeable, but I'm not going to meddle with it. The piece is sadly unsigned; the Bennett name on the reverse is merely the company which manufactured the clasps for so many of these Native American bolo slides. Notice please, too, the very well fashioned aiguillettes; a feature often missing when an artist concentrates only on the slide, and overlooks this detail which nicely accents truly stylish western wear. I bought this at an estate sale recently; I believe it dates to the 1950s or 60s. I'm giving free prompt shipping and a 30-day return option, if not as described. Take a good look at my photos, the short video, and my 100% satisfaction rating. And thanks for taking a look!
