Vtg 30s 40s Black Rayon Dress w Illusion Lace & Wide Sweep Skirt 40" B

Description: What a stunner!! Vintage 1930's / 1940's black dress. Features strips of illusion lace (black lace with a tan backing, slightly sheer). The lace is in a V design on back of dress. But runs horizontal across front of dress. Rayon crepe fabric. Talon metal side zipper. Three matching fabric buttons at back neckline with a peek-a-boo opening. Fitted at waist, blousy on top. Skirt has a wide sweep. Has a handmade fabric tag inside near zipper, says 'Carlo Draper' (?). SEE MEASUREMENTS BELOW. 40" bust / 28" waist. Approx midi length on most. Very good vintage condition, especially for its age! It is structurally sound. No open seams I could see. Buttons and loop closures are intact. Side zipper is in good condition. Slight discoloration on shoulder sleeve area, see pic. But I believe with a wash this will disappear. **There are just a few micro holes. They are not very noticeable until held up to light, please see last photo. Dress is as-found. It was stored very well, in a cedar lined closet. *I would recommend a dry clean before wearing (ONLY use a dry cleaner who can guarantee they can be delicate/ have experience with vintage items). *Otherwise, a gentle soak in cool water with some gentle dish soap will work. A bathroom tub or deep kitchen sink works well for this. May need two soaks (in my experience items this age need more than one gentle wash). Gently rinse/swish with cool water (never use hot or warm water, as it can damage vintage fabrics, cause the color to bleed, or shrink the item). Lay flat on a towel or two to dry - or carefully hang to dry. This is likely best for a modern S/M with a larger bust. My bust measures 37" around, and it doesn't quite fill the dress out enough imo. Please go by measurements listed below. Measured across with garment laying flat.
