Description: Vintage 4 Italian Ceramic Tiles which together create a mural of Sicily, signed E. Branciforti of Caltagirone, Italy This is a rare find from the famous ceramic makers of Caltagirone, Sicily. Each tile measures 4" by 4" and is 1/2" thick. Placing them together forms a beautiful 8" by 8" square depiction of the map of Sicily, signed by the artist, E. Branciforti, from Caltagirone. Included in the design are major cities like Palermo, Agrigento, Caltagirone, Catania and Messina. Mount Etna is featured as well as surrounding seas and symbols of Sicily. The main colors are off-white, beige, blue, gold and brown. The tiles are smooth and glossy. The backs are textured and clay colored. These tiles could be glued to a wooden backing or frame. They could also be mounted directly on the wall permanently like any other ceramic tile is adhered. Please see all of the photos for details.
