The Collection: This comic is from a collection of many hundreds that belonged to a friend of our family who passed away on October 19, 2021. He bought them off the rack as a child in the 1940s and 50s. They stayed carefully tucked away in the same home since that time. The first time they were handled or moved is when they were put into a tub when his house was cleaned out after his death. This was not done by us but was mostly done carefully and only a few appeared to be damaged in the process. The original owner had no spouse or children and no other living family, so many of his things came to us. Included in this collection are many Dell Four Color and Disney titles, including a nearly complete run of Uncle Scrooge and a very long run of Walt Disney's Comics and Stories, and many Captain Marvel Adventures and Marvel Family comics from the 1950s. Update September 2024: All but a few of the Fawcett Comics have been listed and sold. There are still over 200 Disney comics to list. About Me: I used to be an avid comic collector. I always had a copy of the Overstreet guide and was always on the lookout for comics on my wish list. I even worked in a comic book store for about a year when I was in college. That was a long time ago. I never lost the love of comics, but the space to store a big collection became problematic and I sold my very large collection in the late 1980s. I just never started collecting again. About This Listing: Publisher, series, issue, and title: Dell Publishing Co., WALT DISNEY'S COMICS AND STORIES, February 1946, Vol. 6 No. 5. Colors are bright and the cover has nice continuity, but still a lower grade book. Degree of gloss: Some, verging on dull. Condition of cover: Some foxing is visible in the white and light blue areas. There is some prominent wear and abrasion along the bottom edge. There is a lot of general scuffing, minor scratches, indentions, and stress. There is an ink signature on the cover which is also scribbled out in ink. The name has been clipped out of the address area on the back cover. Corners: The top right corner is rounded slightly and there are some light but long creases from handling. The bottom right corner is also rounded and has some light creases. The bottom left corner is blunted and deformed with color breaks. The top right corner is blunted and some fibers are showing. Spine and staples: The staples are rusted and there is some migration at the top staple. They are nicely centered. There is moderate tearing and creasing around the staples. There is a reading bend and moderate spine roll. There are numerous spine stresses with color breaks and scuffing along the raised part of the spine. Original staples: Yes Interior staples: Centered and tight but discolored, and there is some rust migration. Paper color and condition: Off-white, darker at the edges. Slightly stiff but not brittle at all. Smell: Musty Interior condition: Nice, first page has a fold at the lower corner. Some minor reading wear, mostly at corners. If I had to give it a grade: 3.0 Good/Very Good I am not a professional comic book grader, but I have done my best to describe and photograph the comic being offered in this listing.
