The artwork depicted on the poster is Thiebaud's "Masks," a circa 1970 oil on canvas painting from a private collection, courtesy of the Allan Stone Gallery of New York. I believe that the poster paper was affixed to a stiff paperboard backing by the original owner, as this is not a flexible paper poster. The board measures approximately 22 inches by 17 1/16 inches. Unpacked, this weighs 9.5 ounces. This would make a great addition to a modernist decor or to a collection of California art. Identification This poster advertises the November 16, 1990 to December 30, 1990 Wayne Thiebaud "Thiebaud at Seventy" exhibition at the Hearst Art Gallery at Saint Mary's College in Moraga, California. This poster was printed by Singer Printing Company, Inc. of Petaluma, California. Thiebaud (1920-2021) is an American artist associated with the pop art movement. His most celebrated works are those of commonplace objects, such as desserts, paint cans, lipsticks, etc. Condition This piece looks very good overall. The original owner is believed to have mounted the poster paper to a stiff paperboard backing, since this is not a flexible paper poster. It has no stains or discoloration; however, I do not know if there has been any color fading, since I do not know how the colors looked when this was originally printed.
