Description: PLEASE READ SHIPPING DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY BEFORE BUYING!!! To learn more about us please click on our profile Two high quality 18th-century German animalist paintings: "Stug hunt" and "Boar hunt". Both works are painted by the same hand, and are either paintings by Wenzel Ignaz Prasch (1708-1761) or Johann Elias Ridinger (1698-1767), whose styles were very similar (see our additional images for comparisons). Wenzel Ignaz Prasch (1708 Prague - 1761 Schwabach) was active around 1731 in Nurnberg, followed by a ten-year-long stay in Frankfurt am Main and Bamberg. His works can be seen in various German and international museums. Johann Elias Ridinger (1698 Ulm-1767 Augsburg) received his first art training from his father Johann Ridinger and from 1711 studied under the painter Christian Resch. He then moved to Augsburg in ca.1713/14 to study under the animal and flower painter Joh. Falch. During this time in Augsburg, Ridinger first started painting animals, especially horses. He then moved on to Regensburg for three years, to further learn animal painting. Back in Augsburg (ca.1718/19) he became a student of George Phil. Rugendas the Elder at the Academy. Paralelly he worked with the graphic artist Joh. Daniel Herz. Ready with his studies, Ridinger married the widow of the painter Joh. Seuter in 1923. In 1759 he became the director of the Augsburger Academy.
