Description: This is a superb original signed and numbered limited edition hand-colored lithograph by internationally acclaimed artist WILLIAM CRUTCHFIELD (American, 1932-2015), dated 1967. Born in Indianapolis, Crutchfield is a poet, painter, printmaker and sculptor. He graduated from the John Herron School of Art in 1956 and also took his MFA degree at Tulane University. He won a Fulbright Scholarship to study at the State Art Academy in Hamburg, Germany. Having returned to the U S in 1963 he became Assistant Professor at the Minneapolis School of Art. This rare original lithograph is entitled "Narrow Gauge Train" from the "Americana Suite" and is signed in pencil by the artist on the front lower right "Crutchfield" and dated "67". It is also numbered "28/56", from the limited edition of only 56 impressions. It is hand-colored in watercolor by the artist. It was published by Gemini GEL in 1967, and bears their embossed blindstamp on the front lower right and copyright stamp on the print verso.
