Description: William Tecumseh Sherman [1820 1891] was an American soldier, businessman, educator and author who served as a general in the American Civil War. Sherman earned recognition for his command and military strategy, and his scorched earth policies against the Confederate States which is believed to have shortened the war. Sherman commanded XV Corps, the Army of the Tennessee and later served as the Commanding General of the U.S. Army from 1869 to 1883. Listed for auction is the autograph of General William Tecumseh Sherman signed on his personal card. The card is imprinted as follows, W.T. Sherman. General 207 J St, Washington. The autograph is signed on the verso, ''W.T. Sherman General'' in black fountain pen. The card measures 3.75 x 2.50 inches, with trivial toning otherwise is in fine condition.
