WMF Myra Krystall Art Glass Bowl Germany Iridescent 1930s

Description: Description A very fine German Art Deco Myra Kristal glass bowl made by WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik). Dating between 1926 and 1936. Designed by Karl Wiedmann to rival but not to copy the art glass being produced by Tiffany, Steuben and Loetz. Myra glass was treated to the surface with silver nitrate and metal salts to create rich and varied iridized effects. The bowl is decorated in a rich iridescent oily finish with tones of gold and orange, with flashes of green and blue depending on lighting. The bowl has a polished recessed pontil. Stands 2 5/8" height x 6 1/2" diameter. Condition: Two flat chips to the rim, these are partially hidden by the intricate lines produced by the pulled crackled motif decorating the rim.
