Description: This flute was given to me in the 1970's by a well-know New York player who specialized in historic woodwind instruments. At that time it was fully playable and I used it on and off for many years. I replaced the pads with generic flute/piccolo pads that fit the keys well. Joint corks are in good, firm condition. There has always been a thin 3 1/2 inch crack in the head joint (typical of these vintage Martin Frere's- see photo) but it does not affect the playability and could be easily repaired by a woodwind specialist or handy owner if you wish. The flute has a warm, rich, vintage sound suitable for period or Irish music. At this point it likely needs some pad replacement to bring it back into top playing condition. It comes with a vintage case (probably not original to this flute). The case is leatherbound wood with velvet lining in fair condition. The flute is stamped in several locations: Martin F.ES Paris (in a dotted circle) with the Bee logo above. The flute easily plays in A440 and I believe it could be lowered a semi tone or more by adjusting the headjoint
