Description: This very rare black model R speaker horn works the same as it did when it came from the factory. As shown in the video, it can be connected to any amplified source so you can listen to your Old Time Radio broadcasts like they did in the 1920's. From 1923 through 1936 Atwater Kent Manufacturing Company was the biggest American radio manufacturer making only top quality products. In the late '20s, Atwater Kent made table radios with an external horn. In 1929 alone, the factory churned out 1 million radio sets. From 1926 to 1934, the company sponsored the "Atwater Kent Hour" on NBC and CBS. By the mid-1930s, the depression killed the demand for quality radios . Kent decided to retire and closed his factory in 1936. Because Kent had such high standards of quality many of his products still work today and are treasured by collectors
