Description: WW1 British Most Likely 1918 (or 1914) Pattern Leather Open Top Holster Webley Pistol Mk II, or MkIV. Excerpts from the web forums:collectors sometime refer to this as the P08 holster This was the version of the British open-topped other ranks holster designed for use with the P08 web infantry equipment, widely issued in WW1 to machine gunners, tank crew and other enlisted troops issued pistols. There was also a version with a simple belt loop for the P03 bandolier equipment used by mounted troops, and one with buckles for the P14 substitute standard leather equipment.Interestingly up until the 20s the British issued open topped holsters to other ranks while officers, who bought their own equipment, used flap holsters. I don’t know why companion holster to P1914 leather equipment
