WW2 British Group RAF LAC Service Book Sudan & 1939-45 Italy Star War Medal

Description: Auction for vintage WW2 Great Britain/UK Service and Release Book & medals to LAC John George Cunningham. Cunningham was born in 1914. He entered the RAF in 1941. His service as a wireless mechanic was outstanding. He served in Italy and the Sudan. He received the 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star and the 1939-1945 War Medal. His booklet states he received the Defence Medal but not the War medal. This is most probably a mistake. He was released from duty in 1946. Requires more research from British archives.1. Royal Air Force Service and Release Book to LAC John George Cunningham. Booklet is complete. One page is loose which is a Third Class Railway ticket. He served in Italy and the Sudan during the war. He received three decorations for his service to include the 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star and the Defence Medal. The latter is most probably a mistake as he didn't meet the qualifications for it. At some point he picked up the correct medal, the 1939-1945 War Medal. The booklet is stamped RAF Unit 5 Oct 1945 in Wadi Halfa, Sudan. Requires more research.2. Three Medals, 1935-1945 Star, Italy Star, and 1939-1945 War medal. Medals show tarnish and age. The ribbons have normal fraying at the top. Medals, Service Book, photo show normal wear/tear associated with age. Medals have some tarnish/spotting with age. Ribbons look to be period issue and have fraying at top. Service booklet has some scuffing/fading/toning of pages with age. One page is loose that pertains to a train ticket.
