Description: Antique Collins Hartford Legitimus No 18 Machete Bowie Knife V44 & No 13 Sheath Collins Hartford & co stopped marking this style of machete with the “no. 17” stamping in 1926 and started marking them with “no. 18” and during world war 2 this “machete” was redone and they started producing the aircrew survival line of knives that had a wider blade and wider guard plus they used the horn handles and black plastic. So this knife was made sometime in between 1926 & ww2. It comes with an original leather no 13 collins sheath (condition shown in photos) there is a little looseness to the leather stacked handle but none of it is ripped or red rotted or flaking apart. THE BEAR TRAP IS NO INCLUDED, only the Collins knife and sheath are apart of this sale. Buyer is responsible for paying for shipping, no refunds. Please go over photos and ask questions before purchasing. This is a very nice piece of American history. These were sold as machetes but really they are large Bowie knives. If you like to read you should look into the Collins swords and machetes book. It’s a good read
