These were used by the Czech Army and exported to several countries. Modified bayonets were used by Germany during WWII. These were made by Ceskoslovenska zbrojovka a.s., Brno. The earlier version Vz-23 bayonets were too long so they shortened it four inches. In 1940 Germany ordered 150,000 rifles and bayonets. There were blued, prior and post bayonets were in the white. The blade and spine are reversed - the blade edge is on the top. Overall, this bayonet is in Very Good - Very Good Plus condition. The press catch is functional with stiff spring tension. Both the pommel and guard are securely fastened to the tang. There are handling marks, scrape marks and impact marks. The finish is in the white but starting to darken. The screw escutcheons securely fasten the two wood grip panels. They have light oxidation with strong slots (filled with grease). The grip panels have compressions, draglines and scrapes. The wood has darkened with age. The spine, sides and fullers have light handling marks, scrapes and discoloration. There are nicks and dings on the blade edge and it appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is NOT intact and comes to a dull straight point. The blade finish is in the white. There is a light layer of oil. There are no visible markings. The metal scabbard is in Good - Very Good condition. The mouth, body and finial have handling marks, scattered scrapes and oxidation. There is a piece of scotch tape wrapped around it. The frog stud is securely attached. The body is in the white. The scabbard has no visible markings. This bayonet and scabbard will be a great addition to your Czech WWII era rifle, or a bayonet collection in general. As with all used items, a light cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.
